KUALA LUMPUR: It was not supporters and friends that were giving Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak support, it was the other way around, said former Melaka Chief Minister Tan Sri Mohd Ali Rustam.

“The situation inside is like when he went to pray on Friday,” Mohd Ali said.

"He’s looking healthy and calm, and as our former leader, we pray that he’s strong in facing this."

He added that he had also met Najib’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who also seemed calm.

The former chief minister advised Umno supporters to be patient and continue working as normal.

“Prepare to face the branch and division general meetings, this was also voiced by Najib just now.

“We continue working like normal so that our party can live on in these different times, we are starting from zero base,” said Mohd Ali.

Masjid Tanah MP and Puteri Umno chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said she was happy to see Najib in positive spirits.

She said she hoped the Puteri Umno members would keep carrying out their social programmes.

“Where you can do, you just do, so that our Puteri members know that we are earnest, whether easy or hard, life continues,” said Mas Ermieyati.

More leaders have driven to Kuala Lumpur to visit Najib, with former Penang Umno Liaison Chairman Datuk Zainal Abidin Osman and Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican arriving at 2.20pm.

Batu Pahat Umno chief Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi arrived a few minutes later, while Sri Gading MP and former Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi also made an appearance at 2.45pm.

Barisan Nasional Strategic Communications Deputy Director Datuk Eric See-To also made an appearance at 3.17pm
