Bumi padi wholesalers to enjoy special incentive
PUTRAJAYA: Bumiputra padi wholesalers will enjoy a special incentive payment from the Government through Beras Padi Nasional Bhd (Bernas), which will be announced in early March.
Malaysian Bumiputera Padi Association (Barim) chairman Ismail Awang said it is understood that the incentive would be paid to all bumiputra padi wholesalers who are registered with the Bernas Entrepreneurs Development Department.
“The announcement will be made by Bernas at the appropriate time but Barim is confident the incentive will help bumiputra padi wholesalers expand their potential in the padi industry,” he told reporters before the Barim annual general meeting here yesterday.
At present, bumiputra padi wholesalers only made up 30 of the total 1,600 padi wholesalers in the country. — Bernama
