Terengganu Barisan eyes bigger victory in coming polls

KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu Barisan Nasional is aiming for a bigger victory in the coming election driven by its past success.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman targets more than a two-third majority in the state assembly.

"It is not impossible for us to win 32 seats in the coming election as history shows we are capable of doing so," he said at the closing ceremony of the state Wanita Umno 2P programme Tuesday (Feb 20), aimed at strengthening the election machinery.

He said Barisan regained a thumping majority with a 24-8 win over the Opposition in 2008 after a drastic loss to PAS in 1999.

In 2013, Barisan won 17 seats.

When asked about the nomination list, Abdul Razif said the candidates have been identified and only needed the green light from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

"We have finalised the nomination list at the state level and we will leave it to the Prime Minister for his final decision," he said.
