BALIK PULAU: A 35-year-old office boy was detained for uttering profanities and towards a civil servant at a clinic in Sungai Ara, Bayan Lepas on Tuesday (Feb 6).

During the incident that took place at 8.30am, it is believed that the man went to the clinic with his wife and two-month old baby.

While the baby was being weighed by a nurse prior to receiving an injection, the man changed the baby’s diaper on the weighing scale.

The nurse warned the man not to do so as it as it would spoil the scale and added that it was the nurse's duty to change the diaper.

Balik Pulau OCPD Supt A. Anbalagan said the man then became upset and started uttering profanities and insults at the civil servant.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act for insulting behaviour.

“The public is advised to respect the work of a civil servant,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Feb 8).

The suspect is expected to be charged at the Balik Pulau court on Friday (Feb 9).
