PETALING JAYA: Supporters of the #undirosak (spoilt vote) campaign who are against Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad coming back to power should campaign against him, said Bersih's Mandeep Singh.
Using the hashtags #undirosak and #protespru (protest elections), many have in recent weeks joined the bandwagon on social media to express their frustration towards both sides of the political divide and to boycott the 14th general election.
A Facebook page called "Undi Rosak" was also created, as they are of the opinion that there is no difference between Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan.
In a panel discussion on KiniTV on Wednesday (Jan 24) titled "Spoiling GE14", Bersih secretariat officer Mandeep said that if supporters of the #undirosak campaign are against Dr Mahathir, they should go all out to campaign against him instead of spoiling their votes.
"I think what the #undirosak group needs to do is wherever Mahathir goes or stands for election, (they should) go and campaign there," he said.
"There are good people in Pakatan, there are good people in BN, so why punish?" questioned Mandeep, adding that he could not understand the narrative of #undirosak.
Hafidz Baharom, the campaigner for #undirosak, earlier in the discussion admitted that "most" #undirosak supporters "don't like Mahathir".
Hafidz said that the campaign is about having a "third option".
"#Undirosak is for people that have gone apathetic because they look at the policy on both sides, they look at the candidate and both sides are giving horrible candidates.
"If they don't like their candidates, just spoil their vote," he said.
Hafidz said that his problem is "not with Mahathir alone".
"My problem is with the policies, because if you are talking about saving the country and then you say 'let's give them free English Premier League (EPL) on Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM)' - how are you trying to save the country with that?" questioned Hafidz.
