Man charged with hurting marketing assistant over sneakers

KUALA LUMPUR: A 29-year-old jobless man claimed trial at a magistrate's court here to hurting a marketing assistant over a pair of sneakers.

Mohammad Fikry Mamot pleaded not guilty to voluntarily causing grievous hurt to Faiz Hariz Nurhuda, 22, in front of a store in KLCC at 6am on Nov 11.

The accused was charged under Section 325 of the Penal Code and faces a maximum seven years imprisonment and fine, if convicted.

DPP Nur Farah Adilah Noordin offered bail at RM10,000 with one surety.

The accused was unrepresented. His cousin, however, stepped up as bailor.

The cousin told the court that Mohammad Fikry was jobless and has three children.

Magistrate Mahyudin Mohmad Som fixed bail at RM4,000 with one surety.
The case is set for mention on Dec 26.

A fight broke out between the accused and the marketing assistant at KLCC in front of the store as fans waited for new special edition sneakers to be released.

It was reported that the KLCC store was among the few selected outlets in the Klang Valley to release the shoes, which are priced at RM1,150.
