KUALA LUMPUR: The "Datuk Seri" who was charged with assaulting three Rela personnel was rearrested after posting bail on Friday (Nov 3).

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Shaharuddin Abdullah confirmed there was a warrant of arrest for Liow Soon Hee, 29, in relation to a drug case in 2014.

ACP Shaharuddin said that the man is expected to be remanded on Saturday (Nov 4) over the case that is being investigated under Section 15(1) of the of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

It is believed that the man was rearrested at the Ampang Court Complex shortly after he was charged with four counts of assault.

It is learnt that the businessman, who has a drug offence record, has also been identified as a person of interest in several other cases involving criminal syndicate activities.

The suspect was earlier arrested on Monday (Oct 30) after he presented himself at the Ampang Jaya police headquarters.

He is also being investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission following a claim by Rela platoon leader Ho Hoong Keong that his three injured subordinates – Melvin Cheong Mun Khai, 19, Leong Jiun Jie, 21, and Lee Weng Poh, 27 – had lodged a police report over a RM10,000 "compensation" reportedly offered to them to withdraw the assault report.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim also confirmed that the suspect had tested positive for drugs when he was arrested on Monday.

The man allegedly beat up the three Rela members on duty when they asked for his car, that was blocking a road near a temple in Ampang, to be moved because he felt that they did not show him enough respect.
