BESUT, 23 Okt -- Kerapu Kertang (Giant Grouper) atau nama sainstifiknya Epinephelus Lanceolatus diternak bertujuan untuk menghasilkan benih induk jantan di Institut Penyelidikan Perikanan di Tanjong Demong.Pembenihan dan ternakan ikan kerapu hibrid ini menjadi sumber kekayaan baharu buat penduduk di sekitar Pantai Air Tawar Besut setelah mendapat sokongan pihak kerajaan.Ikan kerapu hibrid yang dihasilkan bukan sahaja cepat membesar dan tahan penyakit, tetapi hasil tuaiannya lebih cepat, kurang kecacatan, mudah diternak dan mendapat permintaan tinggi.--fotoBERNAMA (2017) HAK CIPTA TERPELIHARA
Whopper of a fish
Giant groupers, or their scientific name Epinephelus Lanceolatus, are bred to produce male seed at the Fisheries Research Institute in Tanjong Demong in Besut. The seeding and farming of these hybrid fish has brought a new source of income for the residents of Pantai Air Tawar Besut after receiving support from the Government. The hybrid grouper not only grows faster and is more resistant to diseases, but matures faster, with less defects, is more easily bred and commands a higher market price.
