PETALING JAYA: Mid Valley Megamall will open as usual after visitors were temporarily asked to evacuate the building following a fire.

On Saturday evening, a fire broke out at a convenience store on the lower ground floor.

A spokesman for the mall said the scene was declared safe by the Fire and Rescue Department at 8.15pm.

"The mall will open as normal tomorrow (Sunday). We apologise for the distress it has caused to our customers, and the safety of our customers and visitors remain our utmost priority," he said in a statement.

The spokesman said mall operators received reports of the fire at 7.05pm and had informed the department immediately, while also dispatching their emergency response team.

"Firemen arrived at 7.17pm and with their help, the fire was extinguished within minutes of the incident. There was no reported casualty, and as a precaution, the LG floor was evacuated.
