Man escapes unhurt after car swept away in river

Villagers drove into the river in four-wheel drive vehicles and attached ropes onto the affected car, before pulling it to safety.

KOTA KINABALU: A swift-flowing river almost cost a man his life when strong currents swept away the car he was driving.

Pairo @ Gandili Salagan, 50, had attempted to drive across the river at Kg. Poturidong in Tamparuli near here on Monday evening, but a sudden rush of water swept away his four-wheel drive vehicle.
