JOHOR BARU: Two police corporals have claimed trial at the Sessions Court here to accepting bribes amounting to RM8,000.
Mohd Iruwan Ismail and Osman Jamaluddin, who were then attached with the Seri Alam mobile patrolling unit, pleaded not guilty to the two charges.
They allegedly accepted RM6,000 from a man who was suspected of committing an offence under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (Atipsom) Act 2007 while they were patrolling on the Senai-Desaru Highway at 1.45pm on March 25, last year.
On the same day at 7.05pm, both corporals allegedly asked and accepted another RM2,000 from the same man as an inducement to avoid arrest.
Both suspects were charged together under Section 16(a)(B) and Section 17(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act.
Judge Mohd Fauzi Mohd Nasir set bail at RM10,000 each for both charges.
