MACHANG: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak (pic) has granted an allocation of RM8.5mil to improve facilities and amenities here.
The allocation includes RM5mil for the construction of rural roads, RM2mil for social amenities, and RM1.53mil to refurbish mosques and surau.
"The allocation is also for the rehabilitation of 100 houses belonging to poor households, to repair drains and damaged rural roads,” he said when launching the Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) on Saturday.
Najib said this as an on-the-spot response to a request made by Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, who had asked for extra allocations to be made to improve facilities in the district.
Earlier in his speech, Ahmad Jazlan said people in Machang were hoping to see greater development in the district.
The Machang MP said this was because the district did not come under the purview of the South Kelantan Development Board (Kesedar) or the Kelantan Agriculture Development Board (Kada).
"I am just the middleman highlighting the needs of the people here to the Barisan Nasional Government," he said.
