PASIR PUTEH: The Education Ministry will not stand in the way of schools and universities that expel bullies.
Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said that imposing such a harsh punishment would serve as a deterrent.
“We no longer want to hear parents of bullies appealing for leniency, claiming their children's future would be bleak if they are kicked out of school.
“These parents must accept the fact that their children committed a serious offence that warranted such a harsh punishment,” he said after opening the Pasir Puteh Umno Youth and Wanita delegates’ meeting at Kompleks Umno Uthmaniyah in Kampung Pulai Lima on Thursday.
Mahdzir expressed disappointment that more and more bullying cases were emerging, referring to the case in a vocational college in Kuala Nerus, Terengganu, where a group of seniors ganged up on two first-year students and beat them up.
Police obtained a four-day remand order on the 15 suspects.
