KLANG: Youngsters become gang members because they assume it could earn them respect and give them a good source of income, said a former senior policeman.
They also believed crime was their chosen path in life due to a variety of reasons, arising from poor parenting, the influence of their peers as well as acute poverty and lack of self-worth, according to retired deputy commissioner of police Datuk A. Paramasivam.
