It’s fundamental, Chow says of differences in highway costs

GEORGE TOWN: The Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex) in Selangor should not be used as the benchmark to compare Penang’s Pan Island Link (PIL 1) due to their fundamental differences, said state Local Government chairman Chow Kon Yeow.

“Almost 40% of PIL 1’s alignment will consist of tunnels across the island’s hilly terrain, a neccesity to protect Penang’s natural legacy, while the rest of the alignment will be on elevated viaducts, an approach taken to minimise the impact in heavily built-up areas.
