PETALING JAYA: The Government is taking several steps to upgrade security at the Bukit Kayu Hitam checkpoint as it prepares to operate round the clock in 2019, said Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
"Although these facilities contribute to the national economy, the challenge is for the enforcement agencies to ensure the security aspects, especially cross-border crime elements such as drug trafficking, subsidised goods, weapons and human trafficking, are not compromised.
