ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor Department of Environment (DOE) has become the first environment department in the country to sign the Corruption-Free Pledge (IBR) with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
About 150 employers including the director signed the IBR to show support and commitment in making the country free from corruption and abuse of power, said state MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias.
The IBR is a new initiative introduced by the MACC to ensure that every individual who signs the pledge will be more responsible in carrying out his or her duties, he said during the signing ceremony held at Bangunan Sultan Ismail in Kota Iskandar here on Sunday.
Azmi added that the Johor MACC held discussions with the state DOE to foster strategic cooperation besides improving integrity and being an example to other government agencies.
DOE director Datuk Dr Mohammad Ezanni Mat Salleh said it was vital for every individual to understand the importance of integrity in discharging their responsibilities.
Johor Health, Education and Information committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat, who also attended the event, commended the DOE and hoped employees would give their best with integrity.
