IPOH: The National Audit Department has taken steps to improve the responsibility of state investigating committees to ensure disciplinary action can be taken quickly, says Auditor-General Tan Sri Dr Madinah Mohamad.
Dr Madinah also said there was no uniformity in some of the disciplinary actions taken by the committees after her department analysed some of the cases through the Public Service Department (PSD).
“We decided to have a conference to iron out these problems,” she said in her speech during the State Secretaries Conference on Auditing issues here yesterday.
“We want things to be fair. Disciplinary action must be done without any fear or favour,” she added.
She said based on the early assessment of the 2016 Auditor-General’s Report 2016 Series 1, the public can expect to see elements of negligence, malpractice, abuse of power, collusion, corruption and abatement in some agencies and departments.
She added that the report would be tabled in Parliament at the end of this month.
