PETALING JAYA: The passing of an amended Syariah Bill by the Kelantan state government that allows public caning for offenders is a “deplorable form of humiliation”, said Sisters in Islam (SIS).
In a statement Thursday, the non-governmental organisation said the decision to enforce public caning would brand Malaysia as a nation that allowed for uncivilised punishment instead of rehabilitation.
