BUKIT JALIL: Certain concepts like “bonk” and “carbo-loading” were alien to clinical pharmacologist Prof Dr Azizi Ayob when he started cycling in 2011.

According to the International Medical University Division of Pathology programme director, “bonk” is a point of exhaustion when a cyclist might just collapse fairly instantly due to a dangerous drop in blood sugar levels.
