KUALA TERENGGANU: All the free bus seats offered by the Terengganu Graduates Association (Permata) for undergraduates to “balik kampung” have been snapped up.
Permata provided 320 free seats on eight buses under its “Bas Balik Raya” project for undergraduates from the state to return home for the Hari Raya celebration.
Project director Nizarmuhsin Mohamad said the response was overwhelming, all the seats were taken within two days of the registration opening.
It was based on a first-come, first-served basis where those keen on it had to register their names at the Permata Secretariat set up in every zone in the country, he told Bernama yesterday.
He said the buses would leave for Terengganu on June 23, with those from the north and south leaving at 5pm.
The bus from Negri Sembilan will leave at 5.30pm, and it was 8pm for those departing Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, he added.
Nizarmuhsin said the buses were scheduled to arrive at the Terengganu Foundation building at about 4.30am on June 24.
The students would be greeted by the management of Terengganu Foundation and then treated to sahur (the predawn meal during Ramadan) before returning to their homes, he added. — Bernama
