GUA MUSANG: Police will monitor six dangerous locations at three major roads in Kelantan to avoid accidents in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration next week, said State Police Chief Datuk Hasanuddin Hassan.
They are at KM311.1 and KM318.5 Jalan Kuala Krai-Gua Musang; KM732 Jalan Rantau Panjang-Pasir Mas near Lubok Jong; KM290.2 Jalan Tanah Merah-Pasir Puteh in front of JKR Machang; KM37 Jalan Kota Baru-Terengganu; KM16.2 and KM16.8 Jalan Panglima Bayu-Rantau Panjang-Jeram Perdah.
"These locations will be monitored by the police patrol team so that motorists comply with road regulations," he told reporters after launching Ops Selamat in conjunction with Aidilfitri at Hentian Gua Musang in Kampung Tanah Puteh here Sunday night.
Also present were Kelantan Road Transportdirector Mahasan Mustafa and Gua Musang district police chief Supt Rajab Ahad Ismail.
Hasanuddin said police would focus on road safety to meet the target of zero fatal crashes during Ops Selamat for the period between June 18 and July 2.
He said members of the police patrol team had been instructed to carry out patrols at the affected locations and to take stern action against errant motorists.
"The police will also carry out patrols in housing areas to prevent house break-ins during the festive period," he said and advised those returning to their hometowns for Aidilfitri to fill house safety forms to allow for monitoring by the police. - Bernama
