KUBANG PASU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak visited an elderly couple with disabilities in Kampung Kodiang Lama Luar in Kodiang near here on Monday.
Najib, who arrived at 6.30pm with his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, spent some time with Osman Jusoh, 77, Siti Zabedah Saidin, 69, and their only child, 31-year-old Intan Zulina.
Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah and his wife Datin Seri Hizam Awang Ahmad were also present.
The Prime Minister handed the couple a personal donation and a gift pack comprising essential food items.
Intan Zulina, a nasi lemak seller, said she was touched by the Prime Minister's visit, despite his busy schedule as the country's leader.
"I hope there is a brighter future for our family following the visit by Najib. I hope we will get better assistance after this," she said.
Intan Zulina, a single mother of three, said she was excited about meeting the Prime Minister as this was the first time she had met him in person.
She was told of his planned visit last Saturday.
She said her mother had been unable to speak since birth and had been unable to walk for almost 20 years after a fall in the bathroom.
"My father is unable to walk after he suffered a high fever when he was young. He can speak but not audibly," said Intan Zulina. - Bernama
