KOTA TINGGI: Seven Indonesians were nabbed while trying to leave the country illegally following two raids by the marine police.
Southern Region Two commander Asst Comm Paul Khiu Khon Chiang said three men were nabbed in the first raid at Hutan Pantai Tembikai near Bandar Penawar here at about 12.45am yesterday.
Four others were caught in a second raid nearby at 1.30am, he added.
“All suspects have admitted that they were planning to head back to their homeland via an illegal route here on a flatboat.
“They also confessed to have been hiding in the woods for two days,” ACP Khiu said in a statement.
He added that all seven men were detained under the Immigration Act for failing to produce valid travel documents, overstaying and attempting to exit via a prohibited route.
They have been sent to the Bandar Penawar police station for further action, he said.
