IGP: Higher fines would help deter errant motorists


KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic laws should be amended to give them more bite and to haul errant motorists straight to court, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pic).

“We previously suggested increasing the compound rate to put a serious dent in the wallets of habitual offenders,” he told reporters after launching Ops Selamat at Menara TM here yesterday.
