BUKIT MERTAJAM: A 20-year-old factory worker was taken on a 9km terror ride by an armed man and robbed of RM2,000 and some valuables.
Yim Lai Foong said she just reached home in Taman Belimbing here at about 5.45am on Thursday when the man slipped into her car and held her at knife-point.
“He told me to head towards Permatang Pauh. Along the way, he took the wheel and drove me to a bank in Chai Leng Park to withdraw money from the ATM. He also took my mobile phone and a gold ring,” she said.
Yim said when they stopped at a traffic light, she darted to freedom and sought help from passers-by.
Yim lodged a police report at the Central Seberang Prai district police headquarters in Bandar Perda about two hours later.
When contacted, Central Seberang Prai district police chief Asst Comm Nik Ros Azhan confirmed the incident and said police were looking for the robber.
He said the case was being probed under Section 392/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery.
