GEORGE TOWN: A jobless man has been charged at a magistrate's court here with trafficking in more than 70kg of dangerous drugs.
Tan Swee Hin was charged with three counts of drug trafficking on Friday.
He was charged with trafficking in 13.924kg of heroin at 10.30am on May 5 at a flat in Tingkat Paya Terubong 5 in Paya Terubong.
Tan was also charged with trafficking in 20kg of methamphetamine and 37.3kg of 3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine at the same time and place.
No plea was recorded and no bail was offered to the accused.
The offences under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 39B(2) of the same Act carry the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
Magistrate Mohamad Amin Shahul Hamid fixed July 19 for mention pending chemist report. DPP Nurul Fatin Hussin prosecuted.
The drugs were worth RM6.8mil, police said.
