GEORGE TOWN: The high-ranking Datuk, a department head and three officers from Pusat Zakat Negeri Pulau Pinang (ZPP) have been released on bail.
The four-day extended remand order for the Datuk and the department head expired Friday, while the six-day remand order for the three zakat officers was supposed to end May 21.
They were nabbed in a probe last week by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over allegations of graft and the misappropriation of funds.
All five pulled their orange MACC lock-up T-shirts over to shield their faces from press photographers when they arrived at the magistrate's court at 11.05am Friday.
Assistant registrar Muna Maria Azmi granted RM20,000 bail in one surety for the Datuk.
She also granted RM20,000 bail in one surety for the department head.
Three officers were also released on RM10,000 bail in one surety each.
The number of arrests made by the MACC in its investigations into the ZPP has risen to 15 people.
The case is being investigated under Section 17(a) and (b) and Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
