SINGAPORE: About 250 grams of ''ice'' (methamphetamine) worth S$30,000 (RM93,459) were seized from a 24-year-old male Malaysian at Woodlands Checkpoint on Wednesday.
In a statement Thursday, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said at about 10.45am, its officer directed an arriving Malaysia-registered motorcycle for further inspection.
During the course of inspection, ICA said one packet of substance, believed to be ''ice'', was uncovered inside the man's left sock.
Further inspection revealed another packet hidden inside the man's right sock, it added.
The ICA said the officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) were immediately alerted.
The motorcyclist and the packets were handed over to CNB for further investigations, said the ICA.
It noted that the investigations are ongoing.
The Misuse of Drugs Act provides for the death penalty if the amount of methamphetamine trafficked exceeds 250 grams. - Bernama
