PASIR PUTEH: A district hospital doctor died in an accident a day after his birthday, and before he could even enjoy the perks of a recent promotion.
Dr Mohammad Faizal Rozali, 34, sustained a fractured skull after his Mitsubishi Lancer skidded and hit a kapok tree in Kampung Alor Hijau, Selising, here at around 7.30am yesterday.
He was on his way to work at the Machang district hospital from his home in Pengkalan Chepa when the incident occurred.
Police found brake marks on the straight and even road stretching 30m, indicating that the car had skidded to the left side of the road towards Selising before hitting the tree.
It took a Fire and Rescue Department team about 30 minutes to remove the victim’s body from the mangled vehicle.
Pasir Puteh OCPD Deputy Supt Abdul Rozak Mohamad said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving causing death.
The victim is believed to have died on the spot.
A colleague of the deceased, who declined to be named, said Dr Mohammad Faizal left behind a wife and four young daughters, the eldest being 10 years old.
