KUALA LUMPUR: PAS has resolved to defer a decision on the fate of its three state executive councillors in Selangor pending further developments.
PAS deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (pic) made the announcement after a closed door meeting at the party headquarters to discuss the political crisis in Selangor following its decision to cut ties with PKR.
"Their appointment was by the Sultan of Selangor and as such we will wait for further developments before making a decision.
"The three excos will continue to serve as we want a smooth administration in Selangor without disruptions," he told reporters at a press conference on Thursday.
He also denied that PAS had directed its lawmakers in Selangor to resign from their positions.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said that the three were appointed at the pleasure of the Sultan on the advice of Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.
Takiyudin said that PAS was basing its decision on Article 53 Clause 7 of the Selangor State Constituition which states that the posts of a state exco is held at the pleasure of the Sultan on the advice of the Mentri Besar.
As such, he said Azmin would have to decide on the appropriate course of action before seeking the Sultan's decision.
The three Selangor PAS state excos — Datuk Iskandar Samad Iskandar, Datuk Ahmad Yunus Hairi and Zaidy Abdul Talib — were asked to resign from their posts by Azmin after the PAS Syura Council had decided to end political ties with PKR.
