KUALA LUMPUR: Two masked men took the term “clean getaway” literally when they not only escaped with RM500 cash from a fast food outlet in Ampang Water Front, but carted away the cash register too.

It is learnt that the masked duo, armed with machetes, went to the outlet at about 10.45pm on Sunday and held up the cashier.

Seemingly in a rush, the two men grabbed the cash register with RM500 cash inside and fled.

However, their freedom was short-lived as police managed to track down the suspects.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Hamzah Alias said the first suspect, aged 33, was detained at about 8.20am on Tuesday in Ampang.

His accomplice was detained the next day in Pekan Batu 14, Ulu Langat.

“We also seized a machete, the cash register and clothing used by the suspects,” he said.

Both suspects have been remanded for seven days.
