Run to your heart’s content for a happy, healthy life.
Staying healthy is more than just having a balanced diet – it’s also about maintaining an active lifestyle. Exercise plays an important role in personal health.
On May 7, the Coway Run 2017 made its debut at the Starling Mall in Damansara Uptown. The run was organised by Coway to promote the idea of combining both healthy living and an active lifestyle.
Being Coway’s inaugural run, the event successfully gathered over 4,000 participants from all walks of life.
The run’s two event ambassadors, celebrity personal trainer Jordan Yeoh and beauty queen Carey Ng, were also active participants in the run.
Run for those happy hormones
There’s more to running than just keeping fit. While running encourages perspiration, it also relieves stress and releases endorphins – a hormone that’s responsible for improving your mood.
The Coway Run 2017 saw a diverse group of participants coming together for a multitude of reasons. However, event ambassadors Yeoh and Ng took part in the run with one goal in mind: improving themselves.
While both come from different backgrounds, they served as motivators, inspiring participants to take on the challenge to improve themselves.
The run was divided into a few categories: 10km men’s open (for ages 18 – 39), 10km men’s veteran (for ages 40 and above), 10km women’s open (for ages 18 – 34) as well as 10km women’s veteran (for ages 35 and above), in addition to a 5km Fun Run.
Despite the 7am flag-off for the 10km categories and the 7.15am flag-off for the 5km category, participants were raring to go.
The top five runners of each 10km category were awarded with attractive cash prizes, namely RM1,000 for first place, RM800 for second place, RM500 for third place as well as RM150 for the fourth and fifth places respectively.
Better water for a better life
Also among the participants of the event was Coway CEO Harri Lee, who flew in from Korea to participate in the run. Lee was joined by guests of honour, director of global business unit Paul Kim and chief strategy innovation officer Yoon Hyun Jung from Korea.
To further demonstrate Coway’s belief in the importance of better water for a better life, Coway imported giant water filtration systems all the way from Korea, which can filter up to 15 tonnes of water.
All the water stations throughout the run were equipped with the giant Coway water purifiers.
The giant filtration units drew a lot of attention as it was the first time many had seen such a large-scale water purifier.
The Coway Run was organised to raise public awareness of the quality of their drinking water is just as important as other health-related factors for a healthy and happy lifestyle.
Coway’s dedication for a good cause is what led the company to win the Reader’s Digest Trusted Brand 2017 award in the water purifier category in Malaysia.
Coway, the company that owns the first and only water testing lab in Korea, continuously strives to research and develop water purifier models to produce clean, safe drinking water for everyone. Each one of their water purifier models undergoes one million tests before being distributed.
With such stringent quality control, it’s no wonder that Coway is one of the best-selling water purifier brands in the Malaysian and Korean markets. Over six million homes worldwide are using Coway water purifiers.
To maintain their high standards, Coway offers water purifier maintenance once every two months and offers monthly rental for Coway water purifiers starting at RM70.
The official sponsors of the Coway Run 2017 were the Starling Mall, 100Plus, Matrix and Cetaphil.
