KUALA LUMPUR: Several Hindu NGOs and activists lodged police reports against Perlis mufti Datuk Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin (pic) over a video of a talk he delivered, in which he is claimed to have made disparaging remarks about a Hindu deity.
The group made up of 10 NGOs claimed that Dr Mohd Asri, who is also known as Dr Maza, had insulted the Hindu religion as the undated video showed him claiming the wife of one deity had an extramarital affair.
The group made the police reports at the Sentul police station yesterday.
Hindu rights group Hindraf chairman P. Waytha Moorthy said police reports were also being made in other states.
It was reported earlier last week that Dr Mohd Asri slammed Hindraf for allegedly digging up old videos of his talks to create unrest.
