LAHAD DATU: Malaysia will make sure that Islamic State (IS) militants returning from Syria do not try to set up a new caliphate in the Sulu Sea area, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said.

He said the militants might be looking for a new place to pursue their goal of establishing a caliphate, and both Malaysia and the Philippines were taking steps to see that this does not happen.
