JOHOR BARU: Police rescued 65 foreign women and two underage girls during a raid at two entertainment centres in Taman Pelangi, here, Friday.
Johor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Kamarulzaman Mamat said the girls and the women, ages between 20 and 28, were victims of human trafficking.
He said police also detained 32 suspects, between 20 and 54 years, for various offences during the raid conducted together with the Customs Department and the Inland Revenue Board at around 1.30am.
"We also detained a 20-year-old drug dealer while checks on 82 visitors at the entertainment centres found 22 of them tested positive for drugs,” he said, adding that police also seized RM40,000 worth of drugs, a samurai sword, an object resembling a pistol, walkie-talkies, business receipts, computers and other items.
SAC Kamarulzaman said investigations are continuing under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, the Explosives, Corrosive and Dangerous Weapons Act 1958 and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007.
