PORT DICKSON: Some 120kg of various types of drugs worth RM2.59mil were disposed of through high-technology methods at Kualiti Alam Sdn Bhd here.

Kuala Lumpur Deputy CPO Datuk Mazlan Lazim said the items were those stored between 2001 and 2014 involving cases which had been concluded in court.

“Today, we forged cooperation with this company to use their services as they have the equipment and expertise in the disposal of scheduled items.

“The drugs – heroin, ganja and methamphetamine – will be disposed of using high-technology incinerators that would safeguard the environment,” he told reporters at the handing-over ceremony of the items by the Kuala Lumpur narcotics investigations department to Kualiti Alam director Khalid Bahsoon here.

Commenting further, Mazlan said the items had to be disposed of quickly as they posed a hazard and to avoid offences concerning integrity. — Bernama
