PETALING JAYA: Squash queen Datuk Nicol David has found the perfect way to spend her time off during tournaments, and it involves song and dance.
The "Nicol Dance Challenge" has the squash champion picking a song and one squash player to take part in a dance challenge with her.
After teasing fans on Facebook on Saturday and asking them to guess her first "dance partner", Nicol posted a one and a half minute clip of a dance routine on Sunday morning with the hashtag #nicoldancechallenge.
The video, which has since gone viral, reveals her partner to be Colombian male squash sensation Miguel Angel Rodriguez.
The pair are seen grooving to the tune of Despacito by Luis Fonsi on the beach in El Gouna, Egypt, where the Women's World Squash Championship and the Men's International Squash Open are taking place.
"And here we are ... my first dance challenge partner. Miguel Angel Rodriguez - the Colombian Cannonball. Thanks Miguel, you've got the moves!" she said in the description of the video that was published on YouTube.
The video was shot at the Moods Beach Club in El Gouna, and sees both players dancing to the music in their beachwear, completely unperturbed by the scorching heat.
Nicol first introduced the dance challenge in a video posted on her Facebook page on April 5, where she "warned" her fellow competitors that she would be coming after them.
"I'm going to start a hashtag challenge, it's called #nicoldancechallenge. I'm looking for one of you squash players to join me in this challenge. So watch out squash players, I'm coming to get you," she said in the video.
The video of the dance number has been viewed several hundred times, with most of Nicol's followers saying that Rodriguez and her make a good pair.
