Najib thanks Duterte for rescue of Malaysian hostages

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has expressed gratitude to Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte for his help to bring home five Malaysian hostages who were kidnapped by Abu Sayyaff militants eight months ago.

"He personally made efforts to rescue the hostages and he was determined to get it done by his 72nd birthday," Najib said at his residence in Taman Duta Thursday, adding that he will give his Philippine counterpart a call to thank him.
