World media leaders express concern over Trump’s attacks on press

PETALING JAYA: International media leaders have penned a letter to United States President Donald Trump signalling their deep concern with the US administration’s persistent attacks on the press.

The letter, sent to the US administration on behalf of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) and World Editors Forum (WEF) and signed by more than 40 media chiefs from across the globe, including Star Media Group Bhd group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, highlighted the US’ historic relationship with a free press. Wong is the first Malaysian to be elected into the Paris-based WEF.
