Coastal communities asked to help in search for missing catamaran victims

KOTA KINABALU: Some 10,000 members of coastal communities in the west coast of Sabah have been asked to help in searching for the remaining five missing victims of the Jan 28 catamaran mishap off Pulau Mengalum.  

Making the call as the search entered its 11th day Tuesday, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Kota Kinabalu director Maritime Commodore Adam Aziz said these group of people, including coastal villagers, boatmen and fishermen, among others, could call the Malaysian Emergency Response Service (MERS) at 999 if they spot any signs of the missing people.
