PETALING JAYA: MIC treasurer-general Datuk Seri S. Vell Paari (pic) has called on Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to decide whether or not he believes Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) is a form of bribery.
Vell Paari was referring to a speech made by Dr Mahathir, the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chairman, who said that the Opposition coalition would maintain BR1M if it were deemed necessary and introduce a new tax system to replace the Goods and Service Tax (GST) should they come into power.
