KLANG: Police are hunting down two men for vandalising a car using firecrackers after they allegedly failed to collect ang pow money from a car service centre on Jalan Batu Belah here.

The explosion damaged the doors and wheels of a Perodua Kancil that was park behind the shop during the 4am incident on Monday.

North Klang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Yusoff Mamat (pix) said according to the 44-year-old shop owner, two men came to her shop on Jan 4 at about 2.30pm and asked for ang pow money.

“The men, who have tattoos on their hands, handed the victim an unwritten Chinese New Year greeting card and asked for ang pow in conjunction with the festive season.

“The victim, who did not know the two men, told them that her husband was away.

“The duo returned to her shop two days later and asked for ang pow again. But they left after being told that the boss was still not in,” he said here Friday.

On Monday, several neighbours were jolted awake by an explosion and they rushed out to put out the fire.

It is learnt that the car belonged to one of the victim’s customers and the vehicle had been parked behind her shop since three months ago.

ACP Mohd Yusoff said that according to the victim, it was normal for shops to be approached by individuals who collect ang pow money during the festive season.

“The victim said the individuals who came and asked for ang pow did it properly and never intimidated her or her husband," he said, adding that the couple has been operating the business for more than six years.
