MALACCA: Police here made a major drug bust at the start of the year with the seizure of narcotics worth RM150,000.
State police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Jalil Hassan said a 26-year-old suspect was detained during a raid at an apartment in Banda Hilir here at 9.15am Wednesday.
He said among items seized were psychotropic pills weighing 216.80gm, 57 packets of ketamine weighing 104.21gm, another type of drug weighing 255.60gm and 27 bottles containing substances laced with drugs.
He added that a luxury vehicle and RM4,300 were also seized from the suspect's home.
"The suspect, who has a criminal record, has been remanded for a week to facilitate investigations," he told a press conference at the state police contingent headquarters here Thursday.
He said the suspect is being probed under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
