BUKIT MERTAJAM: While others were celebrating the start of a new year, five family members lost the roof over their heads after their village house in Padang Ibu, near here, was razed on New Year’s Day.

College warden Othman Din, 57, said he heard people screaming when he was watching news on the television at about 8pm on Sunday.
