KUALA LUMPUR: Security has been stepped up nationwide, especially along the coast of Sabah, following an operation by the Philippines military on the Maute militant group in Mindanao.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the Malaysian military has been instructed to be on the alert for the possibility that remnants of the group might seek refuge in other parts in the region, including Malaysia, following the attack on its hideout in Mindanao on Nov 27.
