KUALA TERENGGANU: The State Legislative Assembly unanimously agreed to amend the Syariah Criminal Offences (Takzir) Enactment, Terengganu, 2001 in favour of stiffer jail terms and fines.
The amendments to Section 16 of the Enactment on offences by Muslim males not performing Friday prayers without valid reasons involved increasing the jail terms to a maximum two years (presently one year) and a fine not exceeding RM3,000 (from RM1,000) or both.
