PETALING JAYA: The proposed 1% increase in stamp duty to 4% for property priced above RM1mil from 2018 would not be sufficient in curbing speculative buying, according to the National House Buyers Association (HBA).
Its honorary secretary-general Chang Kim Loong said to discourage speculative buying which contributed to the high price of property, the Government should increase the stamp duty to 5% and beyond for those who owned more than two properties.
