Hadi: There will be no cutting of limbs

PETALING JAYA: The Private Member’s Bill to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act will not have provisions to impose punishments like cutting off criminals’ hands, says PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang (pic).

In a statement issued in the PAS portal Harakahdaily yesterday, he said the Bill was to boost the framework of the Islamic judicial system, to show that Islamic law is just and the Syariah court provides rehabilitative penalties rather than just mere punishment.
