JPA to review special incentive allowance for firemen

JOHOR BARU: The monthly special incentive allowance for firemen is being reviewed by the Public Service Department (JPA).

Fire and Rescue Department director-general Datuk Wira Wan Mohd Nor Ibrahim said a request had been submitted to the JPA for approval.

He said it was timely that the allowance be raised due to the long working hours put in by firemen compared to other professions.

He said firemen now receive a special RM110 monthly incentive as they were not allowed to claim overtime allowance.

"I hope the other monthly incentive of RM100 for special teams like diving and Hazmat will also be increased," he told a press conference after the World Firefighter's Day celebration at the Persada International Convention Centre here on Tuesday.

The event was attended by Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar. A parade was held with the participation of about 2,000 firemen, emergency response team, fire cadets, personnel from the Pasir Gudang Emergency Mutual Aid (Pagema), airport and army fire services.
